Hey Americans!
Remember that, no matter who wins the election YOU GUYS WILL ACTUALLY ELECT A PERSON WHO HAS THE ABSOLUTE AUTHORITY TO DEPLOY NUCLEAR WEAPONS NO MATTER WHAT HAPPENS AND NO MATTER WHERE THEY GO. THE FACT THAT THIS IS EVEN LEGAL OR UNQUESTIONED IS INSANE AND VERY FUCKED UP.
Like, for fucks sake. Trump could literally nuke any of your houses right now, and there's fuck-all stoping him. Can you really be comfortable with that?

Nope.

Seems inefficient. The Chinese just skip the election and go straight to the nuke authority.

That’s right, foreign-boy, and we have your IP address. So, behave yourself!
:P

To sleep at night, for the last four years I’ve convinced myself that the people who would actually launch said weapons would ignore him.
Probably not true but whatever it takes to get me through the night.

The hope is that insane orders wouldn’t be followed (see Kissinger telling the military to ignore drunk-Nixon). But yeah, not great. The idea of course is that the president may need to act quickly (e.g. if Russian nukes are incoming, there’s no time to get broader approval). The ability to make rapid decisions is one of the key reasons to have a powerful chief executive in the first place after all . But the F ounders believed that only men of the highest character and wisdom would be president, and tried to design the system to make that happen. Of course here the Electoral College, which was designed to prevent men like Trump from ever becoming president instead enabled it. Also it’s quite possible that a system designed in the 18th century isn’t really suitable for a world where we (and opponents) can blow it all up in under an hour.

The most amusing thing is that the foreign asset could nuke your house, too :)

If i am not mistaken, that’s the same with France and Russia at least.

He really isn’t crazy or erratic , he is just really greedy, completely self centered and compromised by his financial ties to Russia and the Saudis (and maybe more.)

I know. Let’s just forget it.

The fact is, he has spent four years plus doing his goddamndest to undermine those institutions- and is doing some of his “best” work right now. So fuck him. With a rusty chainsaw.
I’ve been preaching that same thing to my friends and family for five years. And I’m trying to hold out until this idiocracy ends too.
Have a good night- tomorrow will be better.

“ But the Founders believed that only men of the highest character and wisdom would be president, and tried to design the system to make that happen.”
No they didn’t. They had just finished fighting an asshole commander in chief from England. Hence all the checks and balances placed on presidential powers. They certainly had no idea attacks would be able to be made instantly and with such destructive power

Well, he’s had four years and has brought a lot of troops home.
Warming up in the bullpen? (You do realize we had an election, right? And, Beau is very, very deceased...)

Oh, the nudge and wink in the Chain of Command is to “call Pence” and “call the SecDef”.
Fortunately the new guy doesn’t know how to use his dial-up modem and thinks Twitter is a kind of bird. Plus, he’ll be asleep for 3.78 of the next 4 years, so we’re good.

Yeah. That’s why he declined $1.6M of compensation-- because he’s greedy.

If they’re nuking my house they have some calculations wayyyyyyyyyyy off somewhere and I’m fine being the accidental target that lets us wipe them off the planet.

It’s all good. Stressful times for all.

Heh, true enough I guess. I was considering the checks as part of my statement, but I guess I didn’t phrase it well. Point being, they did fear demagogues coming to power, and wanted to prevent that (and as you say, contain them if they did),

absolutely - an investment, made back 200 fold already. He’s a savvy guy.

Ever hear of a distraction? I wonder how many millions in public funds his created -via-inheritance hotel chain alone has sucked down in the last 3 years 10 months or so. And then we can get into the other graft, and no doubt monies funneled by ethical honest trustworthy names like Kushner, DeVos, Per due, (probably Putin, Jinping) etc.

Queen Elizabeth II could do the same thing (and can unilaterally declare
war on her own
)
, nobody complains about her.

Twitter is a kind of bird
Considering how much messy it shit it generates, you can’t say that’s not true.
Twitter is a shithawk.

That i don't know. Sounds like you are more aghast by the mutually assured destruction doctrine left over from the Cold War than you are by a particular individual having their finger on the proverbial button

You raise a good point.
Funny, I still remember the promotional video Jack Dorsey made when they launched the damn thing— They had zero idea what it would be actually good for... “When you want to do a quick communication— ‘Hey, what’s up”...”
And these were the guys that built it. Turns out they were right. It has no practical, positive use.

It’s funny that basically NONE of these Clinton-launched, CNN-fueled narratives have actually turned out to be true.
He’s about to leave-- and we’re about to see if The Mob can finally let it go.

“Russia collusion”. Yeah, let’s impeach him.
Let it go, Jake. It’s Chinatown.

Not in those numbers?
“Special Ops” from SoCom. That was Obama’s Big Lie. “Mr. No Boots On The Ground”... loved this shit.

I don't think anyone is enough of a stable genius to have unilateral control of nuclear weapons. America's case is the most shocking because of the number of nukes... But every country which has that kind of system is making life on earth less likely

Protip: if you’re going to use quotes in a non-sarcastic/non-ironic way, be sure you are quoting someone. I never supported the impeachment waste of time (typical aimless strategy of the supposed left) , and never thought there was enough collusion data to levy charges (although there is some smoke if not a little fire). I know well enough that 45 could molest a nun on live TV and escape accountability , his party won’t hold him accountable for simple malfeasance.
Impeachment is the least of his worries . He’s not going to leave peacefully. He’s scared as hell right now, because he knows several states are going to come after him and his shitbag family , and those charges can’t be pardoned.

Which narratives? Like the ones against Hillary and Hunter Biden that have nothing of substance going for them and will never go anywhere no matter who is at the helm? Up there with a child slavery ring being operated out of the basement of a pizza parlor. MAGA!
Speaking of Hunter, can you imagine what the so-called right would do if Hunter behaved like junior and called for Totaler K rieg? I mean Total W ar? I wonder if that was another dogwhistle for the nazi-lites out there. Stand back, stand by.
Also curious about the tax returns (hint, being under audit has no legit bearing - source: me, who has worked as an auditor), why Ivanka was friending around with Putin’s galpal Wendi Deng, the explanation behind so many Russian money trails in his empire, and why so many of his “best” associates have links to Russian scumbags.
